The DCR-TRV280 is this year's low-end addition to the Sony Digital8 series. What it lacks in manual control options to offset the price and what it lacks in chic packaging compensating in the ease of use. It is the only Sony model that does not feature a touch screen LCD, but the control functions are scattered atop the massive frame ultimately benefiting users. The Sony DCR-TRV280 is a behemoth and camcorder Sony only this year, not taking your menu on a touch screen LCD. The control is required through the panoply of the buttons on the camcorder body. The control measure is limited. No manual white balance or shutter speed is offered, and the zoom lever is disproportionately small.
The imager is the same as all Sony Digital8 of recent years: 1 / 6 "CCD with 290K effective pixels. Under conditions bright light, the DCR-TRV280 colors accurately reproduced decent and acceptable noise levels. The colors were, however, a little washed. Poor performance in general, the light was poor, but no more than the performance of its older sibling, the DCR-TRV480. A robust 20x optical zoom comes with the DCR-TRV280, and an 990x digital zoom striking misleading a sad feature designed to appeal to consumers not in school. (Digital zoom artificially increase the image distortion in the process.)
Ease of use is perhaps one of the crucial factors that can cause someone to choose a Digital8 more than a MiniDV camcorder. If so, the DCR-TRV280 will not disappoint. Given the lack of manual control options, this camcorder is designed almost exclusively for point and shooters. The buttons are clearly marked for each purpose, and if even these small tasks confuse the user, there is an easy button top left that relegates almost all quality control of the camcorder.
The DCR-TRV280 does not take still pictures. A step above the Sony DCR-TRV280 NP-QM71D, Sony NP-QM91D) will buy this property. Surprisingly, a widescreen shooting mode available, although not a true 16:9 aspect ratio. The ports of this camcorder include DV, A / V and USB. Other features include DVD Burn, which can record images on a computer with a DVD burner or a DVD burner. There are also NightShot, Super NightShot and Color Slow Shutter, which slows the speed of shutter in low light, to capture more color information.

Sony NP-FP30 provides ion battery lithium with the DCR-TRV280. If the user registers continuously with the LCD open the camcorder will run for 1 hour, 18 minutes and 20 seconds. This is slightly lower than the time specified in your owner's manual, indicating an estimated time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. (We use fresh batteries for this test, but keep in mind that as the maximum age battery of continuous recording time will decrease.)
